<reviewbody>Since when did the BBC do announcements in Dutch?

An hour of this show was broadcast by the BBC but this isn't it. The BBC broadcast (I have a tape but the sound is poor) contained the following songs:

Detox Mansion
Johnny Strikes up the Band
Roland
Excitable Boy
Sentimental Hygiene
Accidentally like a martyr
Werewolves
Factory
Play it all night long
Ain't that pretty
Desperadoes under the eaves
Poor, poor pitiful me

Unfortunately the broadcast opened by fading up Detox manision and closed (with an insensitiviy which is unusual for the BBC) with the closing announcement over pitiful me.

The band FWIW:
Warren Zevon (vocals, piano, 12-string)
Greg Beck (guitar), Karen Childs(synthesizers)
Jennifer Condos (bass), Ian Wallace (drums)

The BBC broadcast also has more chat, including WZ introducing the band and saying that Ian Wallace had been a member of two of the great bands: "King Crimson and, my personal favourite, El-rayo X"

I also believe the date to be in error. The Hammersmith gig was definitely a saturday (jan 25 was a monday) and my notes say february 27 (which was a saturday).

Unfortunately, I was away on business in Scotland for 2 weeks and couln't get to the show. If I could find my 1988 diary I could nail the date down more certainly, but I really don't think it was january.

terrific show though and good to have live electric versions of songs from the sentimental hygiene era.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I didn't know much about warren zevon, except that he did the song 'warewolf of london'. I gave this streaming show a listen. the quality is great, it definately is an official FM broadcast. There is no talking in between songs, and it is a very clean recording. The show is kinda short, it was over before I knew it, but really fun, 1980's rock and roll. WZ is really well represented here on the archive, and i'm stoked to see such a 'big name' band here with it's blessing. The show was okay, I loved the 'warewolf' version on here, but I'm not too motivated to go out and download more Warren Z shows. It was nice how this one had streaming capabilities. Thanks WZ for decades of great music and allowing archive.org!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>hi, i've got a knackered old tape of the bbc broadcast, and before roland, i think it is, he mentions being 'here in london' and says he hopes 'our hair is....you know....' which i recognise from the tape,so it's london ok-but, yeah, that dutch thing is weird, dunno where that came from. also theres tracks on my tape that aren't on here, and vise versa-i particularly miss desperadoes under the eaves-where's the best live recording of that? circa '88 if poss, cos of the legendary playing of greg beck! what a man!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I have an FM master tape of the BBC Broadcast from the 25 February 1988 Hammersmith Odeon show and the (FM) running order was:

Detox Mansion
Johnny Strikes Up The Band
Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner
Excitable Boy
Sentimental Hygiene
Accidentally Like A Martyr
The Factory
Werewolves of London
Play It All Night Long
Ain't That Pretty At All
Desperadoes Under The Eaves
Poor Poor Pitiful Me

There are several doubts raised by previous reviewers and altogether they point to this show being more likely broadcast by Dutch FM.

At the Jackson Browne/David Lindley concert in London on 26 March 2006 they played Carmelita as a tribute. This was preceded by an anecdote from a forthcoming book on WZ that apparently contains extracts from his journals. Jackson & Lindley both expressed how little they actually knew about the man after reading the book.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Ok, it's the almost perfect concert. You have the almost perfect setlist ("Reconsider Me" just doesn't fit) and the almost perfect enthusiasm (you can tell Warren doesn't want to do "Accidentally Like A Martyr," but he gets into it after the minute mark.) Great performance by a great band. This would be a great intro to Warren's live material.</reviewbody>
